I'm Rachel, the artist behind Alasse Art.
I live in the high desert of northern Nevada with my husband Jason and my two dogs, Kyle and Betty. Whether I'm hiking mountain trails, paddling white-water rivers, birdwatching, scuba diving, or traveling to new places, I'm always paying attention to the little details that make the natural world so extraordinary.
Those moments find their way into my paintings.
Every piece begins as an original watercolor inspired by real animals, and somewhere along the way, imagination takes over. A tiny bird might celebrate with a glass of champagne. A fox may look like it's about to invite you to tea. I love creating artwork that feels both familiar and just a little magical.
The name Alasse Art comes from my very first dog, Alasse, who still lives on in my logo. She sparked a lifetime love of animals and reminds me every day why I create art that celebrates the joy, humor, and wonder of the natural world.
I've been painting for as long as I can remember, but I officially turned my passion into a business in 2011. Since then, I've had the privilege of sharing my artwork with collectors across the country through original paintings, archival prints, greeting cards, and other paper goods.
When I'm not in my studio, you'll usually find me outdoors with Kyle and Betty, exploring a new hiking trail, watching birds, planning my next adventure, or working on my next fiction novel. Storytelling has always been a part of who I am—whether I'm writing a novel or telling a story with watercolor.
More than anything, I hope my artwork brings a little joy into your home. I hope it makes you smile when you walk by, reminds you to slow down and notice the beauty around you, and perhaps encourages you to imagine a world where birds celebrate life's little victories and woodland creatures are always ready to welcome a friend.
